Our Veterinary Technicians

Dawn Milo, CVT

Outpatient Coordinator

My husband Tim and I moved to Arizona from Illinois in 1994 to enjoy the wonderful Arizona weather. I worked as a veterinary assistant at an animal hospital in Illinois and as a receptionist at an animal hospital in Prescott shortly after moving to Arizona. I joined the Kachina Animal Hospital team in December of 2011 and enjoy working with the different patients and their owners that we see everyday. I have been in the veterinary field for almost 20 years and have been a certified veterinary technician since 2000. In my spare time, I love being outdoors, especially riding my horse on the trails around my home. My husband and I have many “kids” including horses, dogs, cats, geese, ducks, chickens, and an ornamental turkey.

Karena Baker

Veterinary Technician

Hello! My name is Karena and I am a Veterinary Assistant at Kachina Animal Hospital. I have been here since May 2015. I studied to be a Veterinary Assistant at Carrington College and graduated in 2010. Since then I have been in this amazing field. I have worked in general practice, shelter setting, as well as emergency medicine. I have a special interest in ultrasound and hematology and enjoy the feeling of being able to help anyone's pet whether they are furry, scaly or come in different shapes and sizes! I have a great passion for cats and have 3 felines of my own as well as a pit bull/lab mix named Rayna Jaymes. In my spare time I enjoy hanging out with my son, hiking, and watching silly cat videos on-line. My future goals are to become a Certified Veterinary Technician and to expand my cat collection. :)

Sativa Salcido

Veterinary Technician

Hi! I'm Sativa!

It's been since March 2016 that I've been part of the Kachina team.

My dream has always been to work with animals. But, I feared I wouldn't be able to because, I kind of wear my heart on my sleeve! Then, I found Sir Lancelot, Lance, Lacey-poo! He was in the K-Mart parking lot, hidden away from the other pups being given away. One look at this poor, malnourished, lifeless puppy, my sisters and I said "we want him!' (Though, my mother had already said no! =D) Everyone, even the Vet, didn't think he would make it... Lance is now 7 years and 70 LB Rotti-mix who believes he's a lap dog! I'm his person...

Having such an open heart, especially when it comes to animals in need, was the strength and passion I needed to work at Kachina Animal Hospital! This great group of people showed me how beautifully rewarding it is to be able to help. If I'm not around the animals, you'll find me enjoying the simple life with my family and friends. I'm a small girl in a very big world, awaiting the journey life is taking me. Live, Love, Laugh. ~Sativa

Chantel Pope

Veterinary Technician

Inpatient Coordinator

Hello! My name is Chantel and I am a veterinary assistant here at Kachina Animal Hospital. I have been part of the Kachina Animal Hospital family since November 2014. Before Kachina Animal Hospital I worked as a dental assistant which is one of the reasons why I especially love veterinary dentistry! When I'm not at work I enjoy hiking, reading, music and spending time outdoors! I LOVE German Shepherds, although, I don't have one of my own. I do have a crazy cat named Flint and two heelers, Dakota and Shasta! I hope to see you and your furry, feathered, or scaled "kids" soon!

Ruth Pugliese

Veterinary Technician

Inventory Managment

I have been with Kachina Animal Hospital since March of 2013, and have lived in Arizona since 2000. I have always loved animals, which is why Kachina Animal Hospital is the perfect place for me. I have my Associates of Arts degree from Yavapai College and an Associates in veterinary technology. I am preparing to sit for the state and national boards to gain my CVT.

On the off chance I have spare time, I enjoy reading, being outdoors and catching up on sleep.

Jennifer Hoover

Veterinary Technician

I have been working with animals for most of my life, but discovered my passion for veterinary medicine 5 years ago and haven't looked back since then. I enjoy spending time with our dog and three cats, as well as hiking, reading, and cooking. I'm looking forward to meeting all your four-legged friends!
